Functions Affected by Modifier Keys

Certain Yate functions operate differently if modifier keys are held down when the function starts.

When starting Yate: Option will disable the autoloading of sticky databases in the recently opened list. (Specified by Preferences-General Open sticky databases on startup).; Shift will disable the auto import of a preference file. (Specified in Preferences-General-Auto import/export preferences file).
When quitting Yate: Shift will disable the auto export of a preference file. (Specified in Preferences-General-Auto import/export preferences file).
Dragging fields in the Custom Panel Editor: When you release the drag of a field and the Shift key is pressed, you are pointing to the new lower left position of the field, as opposed to the upper left position.
When starting the Discogs or MusicBrainz wizards: Shift will ignore any saved import settings and will cause the last specified values to be used.
In the File>Open Recent menu: Open causes the Clear Menu items to become Clear Entire Menu. This will remove sticky as well as non-sticky items.; Shift when clicking on an item toggle its stickiness.
When dragging a folder to the main list of files: Shift will attempt to load the artwork from the folder's icon as opposed to opening the folder's contents.
In the Artwork Panel: Shift while dragging the image in the large artwork display to the Finder or desktop will cause the image to be saved as folder.jpg regardless of its mime type.
In the preferences template editor: Control-letter will display a list of available tokens starting with the specified letter.; Shift when clicking on the Format button will remove formatting.
When being warned that a file has been externally modified: Normally when selecting For all files only affects files currently being saved. Holding down the Shift key while electing to save will disable the warning if For all files is selected. Unless warnings are reset, the warning dialog will not be displayed again.
When dragging a Yate preference file to the main window's file list area: If the Shift key is held, the contents of the file will be displayed as opposed to being imported.
When dragging a plist file to the main window's file list area: If the Option key is held, the file will be displayed in the Container Viewer.
When resetting Yate built in items: If the Option key is held, an import (if appropriate) will be performed as opposed to a reset.
From the special Yate menu items in Action Editor text field context menus: If the Shift key is held, the selected field/property is inserted without the enclosing escape sequence.
On the Artwork - Search for Artwork - User Defined menu: If the Shift key is held, the selected template is made the Default Search. If the selected template is already the Default Search, it no longer will be.; If the Option key is held, the selected template is opened in the appropriate template editor.
On the Artwork - Search for Artwork menu: If the Option key is held on the Default Search, the associated template is opened in the appropriate template editor.
On the Rename menu: If the Option key is held, the selected template is opened in the appropriate template editor.
On the File to Tag menu: If the Option key is held, the selected template is opened in the appropriate template editor.
In the File to Tag Template Editor: If the Shift key is held when the preview button is clicked, you are prompted to supply test data for the preview operation.
In Action field context menus: Many of the submenus in Action Editor Window text fields context menus, use the Shift key to flip the escaped or unescaped status of the inserted text. More information can be found in Escape Sequences.
When Using the Add to Staging Playlist toolbar button: If the Shift key is pressed, the staging playlist will be opened and no items will be added.
When clicking on a disclosure button to the right of a field associated with a preference list: If the Option key is pressed the field will be placed into append mode, regardless of the presence of a multi-value delimiter.
When typing a down arrow when editing a field associated with a preference list: If the Option key is pressed the field will be placed into append mode, regardless of the presence of a multi-value delimiter.
When selecting an application on the File>Open Track Playing in... menu item: If the Shift key is pressed, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion of the application's open track player interface.
When clicking on the disclosure button to the right of fields associated with lists: When fields associated with preference lists contain a multi value delimiter (;;;) sequence, a popup list is automatically switched to append mode. You can remove the necessity of manually adding a multi value delimiter (;;;) sequence by holding down the Option key when clicking on the disclosure button to the right of the field. Note that when the popup menu is visible and is in append mode, the field's text is displayed green and the type of menu displayed differs. If you are editing the field and type a down arrow key to activate the menu, Option will have the same effect.
When clicking on a database cell's popup menu item: If the Option key is pressed, the menu item's text will be appended to the current cell value as opposed to overwriting it.
When clicking on an application on the Open With menu: If the Shift key is pressed, the clicked application on the list is removed.
When inserting a markup sequence from a context menu: If the Option key is held, the closing sequence will not be inserted.
When double clicking on an action in the Action Manager: If the Option key is held, the action will be run.
Displaying help via a Prompt from Container statement: Rows displayed in a Prompt from Container statement's table can have individual help text or links. When the Option key is pressed, the help button will always display the default help.
Displaying help via Prompt statements other than the Prompt from Container statement: When the Option key is pressed, the help button will always display the resource help, if any.
