Before you can get lyrics you must register and get an API key. The process is defined in Get Lyrics Introduction.
Whenever lyrics are successfully extracted, they are saved to the default unnamed lyrics item. An attempt to acquire a lyric also results in the creation or modification of a UDTI named Get Lyrics Status. The Network Response property is also set after each access.

The way the function gets processed is determined by the settings in Preferences - Lyrics.
