Application Icon   Tips and tricks

Shortcuts:

  • Icon
    Rearrange the menus by ⌘Command-dragging them.
  • Icon
    Selecting a folder (a menu item with a sub-menu) opens the folder in the Finder.
  • Icon
    Create sub-folders in your menu folders to minimize menu sizes, time to load (sub-) menus and memory usage.
  • Icon
    Move the mouse over the menu titles to get tooltips.
  • Icon
    XMenu uses the icons of the target folders and files. So if you don't like them or want to accelerate XMenu, set the option Icons to None or use generic icons for folders or all items. Menu items of applications always use unique icons (ignoring the option 'Generic Icons').

Use modifier keys to perform different operations:

  • Icon
    None: Open file, launch application or insert snippet.
  • Icon
    Control: Show item (open parent folder in Finder and select file).
  • Icon
    Shift: Show original (open parent folder of original in Finder). If the selected item is not an alias, this is reveals the item.
  • Icon
    Option: Show original and hide current application.
  • Icon
    Command: Show info (in Finder).
